Burwarton Show looks to 125th year

2016 will be the 125th year of the Burwarton Show society, and plans for the event on Thursday 4 August 2016 are full steam ahead, with a packed programme lined up with entertainment for all the family, making it a must-visit, one day show. Students will help to rear new arrivals at Oak Farm

The Society has recently presented Oak Farm, Ditton Priors, with two young Hereford X heifer calves to be reared by the group of young people with learning difficulties who attend the farm on a daily basis.  Named Buttercup and Daisy, the calves are thriving in their new environment and are already providing the group with much enjoyment.  Stuart Toulson, who has run Oak Farm for 25 years, stated that “the calves and all the other animals on the farm give the people here a sense of responsibility,  this responsibility then turns into being able to become responsible for themselves which

Burwarton Show has been awarded runner-up in the 2015 Show Business Competition, narrowly missing out on the title, in what was an extremely close run contest. One of the county’s best known and oldest agricultural shows has been shortlisted for a national competition – and organisers are appealing to Shropshire people to help it take the title. Burwarton Show is one of six short-listed finalists of the Farmers Guardian’s prestigious Show Business competition, which is decided by the number of votes each finalist receives.
